Ingredients

Burger Patties
  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend for best flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
Toppings
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese or cheese of choice
  • 4 buns burger buns toasted
  • 1 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/2 cup pickles sliced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard

Method

Prepare the Patties
  1. In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide into 4 equal portions and form loose balls without overworking the meat.
Cook the Patties
  1. Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the beef balls on the grill and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
  2. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and immediately place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. Layer the bottom bun with lettuce, a cheeseburger patty, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
