Ingredients
  

Blueberry Jam Ingredients
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries washed and stems removed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon pectin optional, for thicker jam

Method
 

Prepare the Blueberries
  1. In a large saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Mash the blueberries slightly with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
Cook the Jam
  1. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently until it comes to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. If using pectin, add it according to package instructions during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Jar the Jam
  1. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the jam cool slightly.
  2. Using a canning funnel, pour the jam into sterilized mason jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace.
  3. Seal the jars and let them cool completely at room temperature.

Notes
