Method
Prepare the Blueberries
- In a large saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
- Mash the blueberries slightly with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
Cook the Jam
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently until it comes to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If using pectin, add it according to package instructions during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Jar the Jam
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the jam cool slightly.
- Using a canning funnel, pour the jam into sterilized mason jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace.
- Seal the jars and let them cool completely at room temperature.
