  • 1.5 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon almond extract
Cherry Filling
  • 3.5 cups frozen sour cherries
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon almond extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, lemon zest, and salt.
  3. Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract until crumbly.
  4. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a baking dish.
Cherry Filling
  1. In another bowl, mix the cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and almond extract.
  2. Spread the cherry mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
  3. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the cherries.
  4. Bake for 60 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
  6. Mix confectioners' sugar and milk to create a glaze for drizzling over the bars.
