Cake Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting and Decoration
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Adjust consistency with more milk or sugar if necessary.
- Divide the frosting into two bowls. Color one bowl with blue food coloring and the other with green.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of blue frosting on top.
- Top with the second cake layer and frost the top and sides with the green frosting.
- Roll out the fondant and cut out shapes to decorate the cake, resembling Lilo and Stitch.
- Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter over the cake for a magical touch.
